I am a newcomer to ceramics. The closest thing to working with clay I've done is playing with Playdoh, so I obviously had about no experience coming into this year. For the show I wanted to make pieces that I could eat off of, so thought of foods that I eat a lot of. The one food that came to mind was Ramen, so I figured I could make a Ramen bowl with some Chinese figures on it to make it look cool. I decided to make the main ramen bowl, a smaller bowl for a sauce or a side, and a plate to put the main bowl onto. I plan on glazing all of my pieces with black, but adding Chinese figures in white. I didn't want the bowls to look super flashy or fancy, but I thought the Chinese figures would add a nice looking touch I started by hand building bowls, but then quickly realized throwing would be much better. I threw and trimmed all of my pieces, and I am excited with how they turned out. I'm most proud of my improvements I have made on the wheel, as I have become a much better potter throughout the semester. Because I'm not a fan of art that much, I don't think I will continue to work with clay. Also clay isn't really something I'm passionate about pursuing.
